Barb and Rukus earned their Companion Dog Title in Obedience! Congratulations!
On a very sad note, Barb had to send Skeeter, her 15 year old Aussie to the Rainbow Bridge. A dedication will be up soon on our memorial page.
Cloak has gone MAD - she earned her Master Agility Dog Title on Saturday, September 19th at the USDAA Happy Tails trial in Macedon, NY.
Barb Lenahan attended a judging seminar on AKC competition obedience and AKC rally obedience.

Barb Lenahan attended a First Aid Course for dogs, given by an area veterinarian.
As of March 18th, 2009, Rossi passed his test and is now a Canine Good Citizen. Rossi has been to visit people all over at movie theaters, the mall, and many other places that he has done obedience demonstrations, etc. He is a great representative of how wonderful pitbulls can be. Gretchen and her rescue Boston Terrier, Poe also passed the test. Gretchen has worked through some behavioral issues with Poe and he is turning out to be a great dog.
The staff at Canine Academy, Inc. wishes to extend our deepest sympathy to the family and friends who lost loved ones on flight 3407.
Colleen and Buffalo Humane were featured in the Bee Newspapers under the Lifestyles section.
Colleen and Scott completed a one day seminar with Joanne Lang, MCMT. The seminar focused on developing strength, balance, coordination and cardiovascular health in your dog through core and rear exercises. Colleen and Scott will be teaching some of the exercises at their agility classes, but the seminar is a must for any agility/sport dog. We look forward to having Joanne back again.
Canine Academy is now Incorporated! Our new name is Canine Academy, Inc.
Colleen was invited to have an information table at the Regal Cinemas for the opening of Hotel For Dogs. Rossi the pitbull came with. What fun we had! Rossi was absolutely wonderful with all the adults and children. Everyone enjoyed giving him greetings and hugs.
On July 13, 2008, Jet earned her Working Aptitude Certificate (WAC). In order to earn a WAC a Doberman must demonstrate the characteristics required of a dog to be a stable companion and resolute protector. She was handled by her owner, Barb Lenahan.
On a sad note, I had to retire Clancey on May 11th at the USDAA Agility Trial in Cato, NY. She tried to end it in crazy Clancey style, by falling hard off the dogwalk. She was okay, but it was her second bad fall. I knew she could retire on a better note, so on Sunday there was a great gamble for her. Lots of tunnels and the teeter in the opening and the closing was one of her favorites: jump, tunnel, out to the teeter and out to another jump. She ran beautifully and Q'd (one of only a few dogs that did). She also earned first place and her PIII Gamblers Title. That is how I wanted to retire her. Although she can still jump 16" in AKC, it is no longer safe to put her on the dogwalk at her age, and she isn't into jumpers, so I though it best to end it with her favorite which is gamblers. I will really miss running her, and I know all of you that know her will miss her crazy antics out on the course. So at 12 1/2 Clancey is saying goodbye to agility and will now enjoy running, playing and hiking. Although I know it is the right decision, it sure is still a hard one to accept. So, hug your dog's today!
Colleen is now a Certified Dog Trainer through the
International Association of Canine Professionals. This required
lots of different references from clients, peers, and
veterianarians. She also has the title of Certified Professional
Trainer through National K-9 School of Dog Training by passing an
all-day written test (not multiple choice) and various hands-on
demonstrations.
Barb attended a workshop with Ikena Hilmayer and Jerry Burke on Utility Exercises for AKC competition Obedience.
